Millions of dollars are spent every year by businesses, large and small, on market research.  This comes in the form of paid online surveys.

Doing online surveys and getting paid for it is a fun way to make some extra cash.  Let me say here, though, that you will not get rich by doing this.  You probably won’t even be able to make a living at it – unless you live at your Mother’s house for free, and then you probably could.  Not that living with one’s Mother is bad.  Norman Bates did it.  And look how well he turned out.

Where to begin…taking online surveys to get paid a little extra money isn’t complicated.  Anyone over the age of 18 can do it.  Survey companies are looking for all types of people – black, white, rich, poor, college graduates, high school drop outs, with kids, and without.  There is no “type” of person they’re looking for.

How is that possible?  Let me illustrate.  Let’s say that Trek, the bicycle company which sponsors Lance Armstrong, wants to do two things: get opinions from it’s existing customer base and get opinions from it’s potential customer base.  The criteria for the first group may be something like: white males between the ages of 20-45 who make over $40,000 year.  The criteria for the second group could be something like single black males with no children who own home. It may be even more specific, requesting only those who have a 4 year degree, are employed full time, and don’t smoke.

So regardless of your race, age, income, or baseball team preference, they’ll accept you.  Isn’t that nice not being discriminated against because you like the Cubs?

Yes, it is.
